NFL Fantasy Football Week 6 Sleeper Picks

Week 6 Sleepers: One Name at Every Position (Plus a Bonus)

Injuries have opened doors on several depth charts heading into NFL Fantasy Football Week 6. This week's sleeper list leans on those openings. A quarterback with one of the best matchups on the board. A running back whose snap share has been climbing every week. A rookie receiver stepping into targets. A tight end rebuilding chemistry with a healthy quarterback, and a Philadelphia receiver in line for extra work. A couple of these are streamers more than true deep sleepers, and I've flagged where the risk is.

QB: Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers (vs. Dallas Cowboys)

Love isn't a deep sleeper, but he's a smart play at a position where good matchups matter. He's averaging roughly 280 passing yards a game this season. He threw for 367 yards and 2 touchdowns against Chicago in Week 5. Dallas is one of the most favorable quarterback matchups on the board, allowing around 243 passing yards and 2.3 touchdowns per game. Green Bay has one of the easier three-game stretches in the league coming up (Dallas, Detroit, Carolina). If he's sitting on your waiver wire, he's a strong streaming option this week and a reasonable hold beyond it.

Predicted stat line: 280 passing yards, 2 TDs, 1 INT

RB: Kimani Vidal, Los Angeles Chargers (at Kansas City Chiefs)

Vidal's snap share has climbed from 7% in Week 1 to 42% in Week 5, the highest among Chargers running backs. He has 16 touches and 2 touchdowns over his last two games. Last week he ran for 57 yards and a score on 8 carries and added three kick returns. The Chargers are 0-5 and chasing points, which tends to favor the back who catches passes. The caution is that some depth charts still list him behind Omarion Hampton and Keaton Mitchell. A good part of his Week 5 yardage came on one long run, so this is a bet on the trend continuing.

Predicted stat line: 9 carries, 42 rushing yards, 1 TD, 3 catches, 20 receiving yards

WR: Germie Bernard, Pittsburgh Steelers (at Tampa Bay Buccaneers)

Bernard is a second-round rookie who has seen his role grow quickly. With Michael Pittman Jr. out and Roman Wilson leaving Week 5 injured and expected to miss a few weeks. Bernard led the Steelers in targets last week while running a route on roughly 94% of drop backs.  He projects 6-8 targets against a Tampa Bay pass defense that has been vulnerable. His season totals so far are modest (7 catches for 60 yards through four games).

Predicted stat line: 5 catches, 58 receiving yards, 1 TD

TE: Chig Okonkwo, Washington Commanders (at San Francisco 49ers)

Okonkwo signed with Washington this offseason and has been building toward a bigger role as the offense gets healthy. He caught 4 passes for 60 yards on a team-high 6 targets in Week 5 against the Giants. After returning from an injury in Week 4, and Jayden Daniels is healthy again and working with him more. A team-leading target count from a tight end is the signal worth chasing at a position with so few reliable options.

Predicted stat line: 5 catches, 52 receiving yards, 1 TD

Bonus WR: Dontayvion Wicks, Philadelphia Eagles (vs. Carolina Panthers)

Wicks has gone for 60-plus receiving yards in three of the Eagles' five games, and he caught 5 of 8 targets for 63 yards last week. A 22% target share over the last two games. DeVonta Smith's hamstring has kept him out and Hollywood Brown was also out in Week 5. Carolina is missing cornerbacks Jaycee Horn and Mike Jackson. The risk is straightforward: if Smith returns, Wicks' target share shrinks, so check the Eagles' injury report before kickoff.

Predicted stat line: 5 catches, 64 receiving yards, 1 TD

    Summary

Player                           Why he's a sleeper                                                                                      Predicted line
Jordan Love             Second-friendliest QB matchup; 367 yds, 2 TD last week          280 pass yds, 2 TD, 1 INT
Kimani Vidal              Snap share up from 7% to 42%; trailing-game script                 42 rush yds, 1 TD, 3 catches
Germie Bernard        Led team in targets with Pittman and Wilson out                         58 rec yds, 1 TD
Chig Okonkwo          Team-high 6 targets last week; healthy Daniels                          52 rec yds, 1 TD
Dontayvion Wicks     DeVonta Smith (hamstring) out; Carolina missing two CBs        64 rec yds, 1 TD

Three of these five (Vidal, Bernard and Wicks) depend on teammate injuries — check final reports before locking them in.
